| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Richard Dale McClain on the grand occasion of his 70th | ||
| birthday; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the course of his 70 years, he has seen many | ||
| momentous events and changes in the world; men have landed on the | ||
| moon; computers have become commonplace, much to his chagrin; and | ||
| cell phones are the rule rather than the exception; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Richard McClain was born April 15, 1941, in Saint | ||
| Joseph, Missouri, to Clara Belle McClain and Dailey Irvin | ||
| McClain; he moved to Baldwin City, Kansas, to attend Baker | ||
| University, where he excelled at football and distinguished | ||
| himself as a golf team star, making a hole-in-one in May of 1967 | ||
| at the Coffeyville Country Club; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army Honor Guard, | ||
| stationed at Fort Myer in Arlington County, Virginia, during the | ||
| presidency of John F. Kennedy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He takes great pride in his daughter, Lisa Marie, | ||
| who has been a source of much joy, that joy being rivaled only by | ||
| his love of golf; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. McClain worked successfully in sales for more | ||
| than four decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He generously gives his time and support to | ||
| special-needs adults at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio, | ||
| Texas; a respected and admired member of his community, he is | ||
| truly deserving of recognition as he passes this birthday | ||
| milestone; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Richard Dale McClain on his many | ||
| achievements and extend to him best wishes for a memorable 70th | ||
| birthday; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
