| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Canterbury Episcopal School Lady Cougars | ||
| volleyball team, which won the Texas Association of Private and | ||
| Parochial Schools 2A state championship title on November 6, | ||
| 2010; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars won their first state | ||
| championship since 2005 by defeating Shiner Saint Paul in four | ||
| sets with scores of 25-13, 25-15, 24-26, and 25-17; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great | ||
| talent and perseverance throughout the year, ending the season | ||
| with a perfect 21-0 record in best-of-five matches and an overall | ||
| game record of 108-15; team members can take great pride in their | ||
| outstanding performance; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of | ||
| head coach Scott Vaughan and with the assistance of coaches Jeff | ||
| Ellis and Kim Shelton, the Lady Cougars have developed | ||
| exceptional teamwork and discipline; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Canterbury Episcopal School and the citizens of | ||
| Desoto are proud of the Lady Cougars for their hard work, their | ||
| impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Canterbury Episcopal School Lady | ||
| Cougars on their outstanding season and extend congratulations | ||
| to them on winning the 2010 Texas Association of Private and | ||
| Parochial Schools 2A volleyball state championship title; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
