| WHEREAS, For more than two decades, retired Sergeant First | ||
| Class Lachrishua Jane Walton served her country with great | ||
| distinction as a member of the United States Army, and the | ||
| observance of Women Veterans Day 2023 provides a fitting | ||
| opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding military career; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Walton excelled in her | ||
| responsibilities during her 21 years in the U.S. Army; answering | ||
| the call to duty in a number of major military engagements, she | ||
| was deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, as | ||
| well as multiple peacekeeping missions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A graduate of the Hiring Our Heroes program that | ||
| connects members of the armed forces community with American | ||
| businesses, Sergeant First Class Walton currently works as a | ||
| health care navigator for Endeavors and a case manager for | ||
| Supportive Services for Veteran Families; in these positions, | ||
| she has assisted current and former members of the military in | ||
| accessing vital care and resources, and she has played an active | ||
| role in helping individuals and families at risk of becoming | ||
| homeless; she holds a bachelor's degree in social work and is | ||
| pursuing a master's degree in the subject; and | ||
| WHEREAS, During her years in uniform, Lachrishua Walton | ||
| upheld the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces, | ||
| demonstrating exemplary bravery, dedication, and integrity, and | ||
| her fellow citizens owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Sergeant First Class (Ret.) | ||
| Lachrishua Jane Walton for her military service on the occasion | ||
| of Women Veterans Day 2023 and extend to her sincere best wishes | ||
| for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Sergeant First Class Walton as an expression of high | ||
| regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
