| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the award-winning Sunset Elementary School in Dumas on | ||
| receiving the 2023 National Blue Ribbon Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the National Blue Ribbon Schools | ||
| Program sponsored by the United States Department of Education, | ||
| the award recognizes high-achieving schools and schools that | ||
| bridge the achievement gap; the students and educators of Sunset | ||
| Elementary School were recognized for their exemplary | ||
| performance, and their families and community members were | ||
| credited with nurturing a culture of achievement that creates | ||
| opportunities for the future; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through their hard work and determination, the | ||
| students and faculty of Sunset Elementary School have reached the | ||
| pinnacle of academic excellence, and their outstanding | ||
| accomplishment of being named a National Blue Ribbon School is a | ||
| shining example to other schools and districts across the Lone | ||
| Star State; and | ||
| WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that this exceptional school | ||
| receive special recognition for attaining a level of academic | ||
| excellence that will be a source of inspiration to the members of | ||
| the Dumas community and to the Dumas Independent School District | ||
| for years to come; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the students, | ||
| educators, and faculty members of Sunset Elementary School on | ||
| earning a National Blue Ribbon School Award for 2023; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the school as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
