| WHEREAS, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has retired as superintendent | ||
| of the Somerset Independent School District, drawing to a | ||
| close an outstanding tenure with the district that spanned two | ||
| decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, One of the longest-serving superintendents in | ||
| the region, Dr. Hinojosa began his career with Somerset ISD as | ||
| a teacher; he previously served as an assistant principal at | ||
| Southside ISD and as a government and history teacher and | ||
| football and baseball coach in McAllen ISD; he assumed the role | ||
| of superintendent of Somerset ISD in 2007, and under his able | ||
| leadership, the district has overcome numerous challenges to | ||
| earn an A accountability rating from the Texas Education | ||
| Agency; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Hinojosa plans to continue his service in | ||
| the field of education in his retirement; he currently works as | ||
| a search consultant for Walsh Gallegos, a major law firm that | ||
| assists school districts across the state in vetting and | ||
| selecting superintendent candidates; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and | ||
| commitment to excellence, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has helped many | ||
| young Texans acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to | ||
| succeed, and his contributions will be remembered and | ||
| appreciated for years to come; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Saul | ||
| Hinojosa on his retirement as superintendent of the Somerset | ||
| Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes | ||
| for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Dr. Hinojosa as an expression of high regard from | ||
| the Texas Senate. | ||
