Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: 1. §1. That whatever changes are made to the compensation of state employees covered under the Virginia Personnel Act (§2.2-2900 et seq. of the Code of Virginia) and whatever changes are made to the fringe benefits offered to such state employees that are also offered to members of the General Assembly shall be made to the compensation and fringe benefits of members of the General Assembly. However, any increase in the compensation of members of the General Assembly shall be in accordance with the provisions of Article IV, Section 5 of the Constitution of Virginia, and no such increase shall become effective prior to February 1 immediately following the general election of the Senate of Virginia. |
