Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 24.2-605 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 24.2-605. Loudspeakers prohibited at polls and certain other locations; penalty.
Notwithstanding any contrary statute or ordinance of a county, city, or town, except for school purposes or in an emergency, no loudspeaker shall be used within 300 feet of (i) a polling place on an election day or (ii) the office of the general registrar, a central absentee voter precinct, or a voter satellite office on election day and during hours when such facilities are open for the purpose of casting absentee ballots. Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor.
