Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall seek necessary federal authorization to provide Medicaid coverage, regardless of income or assets, to individuals who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) but are not yet eligible for Medicare coverage. If federal authority is granted, an individual shall be eligible for Medicaid upon a determination of eligibility for SSDI and coverage shall continue until such individual is eligible for Medicare coverage.
