A BILL to direct the Department of Human Resource Management, in conjunction with the Department of Health, to develop a two-year pharmacogenomics pilot program for state employees.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The Department of Human Resource Management (the Department) shall, in conjunction with the Department of Health, establish a pharmacogenomics pilot program (the pilot program) for state employees. State employees shall qualify for the pilot program if they are taking five or more prescriptions concurrently and if they volunteer to participate in the pilot program. The pilot program shall provide for genetic testing, analysis of test results, and any necessary follow-up appointments for up to 1,000 state employees who qualify and volunteer for the pilot program. The Department shall develop and implement the pilot program no later than January 1, 2026, and the pilot program shall expire on January 1, 2028. The Department shall report annually to the Chairs of the House Committee on Health and Human Services and the Senate Committee on Education and Health on the implementation of the pilot program. The Department may adopt regulations necessary to implement the provisions of this act.
