A BILL to require the Board of Housing and Community Development to establish a work group to identify certain changes related to the building permit and certificate of occupancy processes.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. That the Board of Housing and Community Development (the Board) shall establish a work group during the 2024 code development cycle to identify changes to the Uniform Statewide Building Code (13VAC5-63) to streamline the processes for reviewing and issuing building permits and certificates of occupancy and to develop recommendations for maximum timelines for review of applications and revised applications. Any code change proposals or recommendations developed by the work group shall be submitted to the Board during the 2024 code development cycle.
