A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 16.1-305.3, relating to juvenile and domestic relations district court records; adult criminal disposition filing an order of disposition from a criminal case in general district courts.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 16.1-305.3 as follows:

§16.1-305.3. Filing an order of disposition from a criminal case in general district court.

Upon petition of the victim and with consent of any juvenile and domestic relations district court judge, any adult criminal disposition for a misdemeanor or felony shall be submitted to the general district court of the same territorial jurisdiction to be filed as a general district court record. The general district court shall enter a juvenile and domestic relations district court record upon the filing of a disposition abstract certified by the clerk of the juvenile and domestic relations district court into its own records as if the disposition originated and was disposed of in the general district court. Any future hearings changing the disposition shall occur in the juvenile and domestic relations district court and any disposition changes shall be filed with the general district court within 10 calendar days of the entry of a modifying disposition order.
