Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §16.1-132 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§16.1-132. Right of appeal.
Any person convicted in a district court of an offense not
felonious shall have the right, at any time within ten 10 days from such conviction,
and whether or not such conviction was upon a plea of guilty, to appeal to the
circuit court; however, any person convicted
of a misdemeanor offense
of reckless driving who was tried in
his absence shall have the right
to appeal such conviction at any time within one year from such
conviction. There shall also be an appeal of right from any
order or judgment of a district court forfeiting any recognizance or revoking
any suspension of sentence.
