WHEREAS, Master Sergeant Stephen Drakes, VA ANG, was selected as the 2023 Outstanding Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year by the Virginia Air National Guard; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Air National Guard provides reserve elements to the United States Air Force and serves as the aerial component of the Virginia National Guard, protecting the skies over the Commonwealth through the outstanding contributions of members like Stephen Drakes; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Drakes serves as the flight chief, wing weapons and tactics, and survival evasion resistance and escape (SERE) specialist noncommissioned officer in charge of the 192nd Operations Support Squadron, 192nd Operations Group, 192nd Wing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Drakes plans, supervises, and manages all SERE training and personnel recovery operations that occur within the 192nd Wing; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Drakes received this prestigious honor at the Virginia Air National Guard's annual awards ceremony in February 2023; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Master Sergeant Stephen Drakes, VA ANG, on the occasion of his selection as the 2023 Outstanding Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Master Sergeant Stephen Drakes, VA ANG, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his outstanding service to the Commonwealth.
