WHEREAS, Glory's Bakery, a beloved staple of the Virginia Beach food scene, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2023; and
WHEREAS, Glory's Bakery, owned by Luz and Alfonso Esteban, in partnership with Carol Wheat, first opened on Centerville Turnpike in 1983 and then at a second location at the intersection of North Witchduck Road and Aragona Boulevard two years later; and
WHEREAS, Glory's Bakery serves classics of Filipino cuisine, including pancit, lumpia, and chicken adobo and is renowned throughout the region for its pandesal-inspired pepperoni bread; and
WHEREAS, by consistently serving quality meals at an affordable price with exceptional hospitality, Glory's Bakery has established itself as a culinary institution of Virginia Beach and an important part of what makes the city a wonderful place to live, work, and eat; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Glory's Bakery on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Luz and Alfonso Esteban, owners of Glory's Bakery, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the bakery's history and appreciation for its contributions to the Commonwealth.
