Commending Praveendharan Meyyan.

WHEREAS, Praveendharan Meyyan has established himself as a preeminent economist and a committed leader within the Asian American community in Northern Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Praveendharan Meyyan has dedicated over a decade to elevating the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, ensuring their voices are impactful within the civic landscape while cultivating emergent leadership within these communities; and

WHEREAS, Praveendharan Meyyan currently holds the esteemed position of national co-chair of political engagement for the organization South Asians for America, serves with distinction as an advisory commissioner on the Arlington Economic Development Commission, and actively participates on the Arlington Emergency Preparedness Advisory Commission; and

WHEREAS, Praveendharan Meyyan has also distinguished himself through his governor-appointed tenure on the Virginia Asian Advisory Board from 2017 to 2023, and delivered visionary leadership as chair of Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia from 2020 to 2024, a period marked by significant progress and expansion of opportunities for Asian Americans in public service; and

WHEREAS, Praveendharan Meyyan possesses an impressive academic lineage, being an alumnus of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership of the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia, while holding dual bachelor's degrees from Binghamton University in industrial systems engineering and financial economics and a diploma from the esteemed Stuyvesant High School in New York City; and

WHEREAS, Praveendharan Meyyan is a valued resident of Arlington County, where he shares a nurturing home with his wife, Cameron; his son, Neil; and their cherished dog, Cooper, thus embodying the principles of community and family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Praveendharan Meyyan for his exceptional contributions to the economic development and uplifting of the social fabric of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Praveendharan Meyyan as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his unwavering commitment to public service and leadership development.
