HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 329
Commending the Woodgrove High School wrestling team.

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove High School wrestling team of Loudoun County won the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship on February 17, 2024, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center; and

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove High School Wolverines qualified 13 wrestlers from the Region 4C wrestling tournament to compete in the state championship; and

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove Wolverines dominated their competition, recording an impressive 177 points and finishing 44 points in front of the runners-up from Eastern View High School as they captured the first wrestling state championship in Loudoun County Public Schools history; and

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove Wolverines' state title capped off an undefeated dual meet season that included Cactoctin District and Region 4C tournament titles; and

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove Wolverines' championship win was accentuated by two individual state championships for sophomore Sawyer Jones (144) and senior Austen Watson (150); and

WHEREAS, Woodgrove High School's Ben Spagnoli (126), Cameron Owens (157), and Luke Benkelman (190) also advanced to the finals of their respective weight classes; and

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove Wolverines' championship performance relied on key contributions from Zac Hartley (106), Adam Skinner (113), Jackson Knupp (120), Camden Murray (132), Brodie Carley (165), Campbell Frook (175), Ibrahim Zaky (215), and Jared Krogh (285); and

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove Wolverines were led by seasoned head coach Mike Skinner and a dedicated staff of assistant coaches; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Woodgrove Wolverines are the result of the hard work and dedication of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Woodgrove High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Woodgrove High School wrestling team for winning the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mike Skinner, head coach of the Woodgrove High School wrestling team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's extraordinary achievement.
