WHEREAS, Mamie Littleton Goins, a vibrant member of the Richmond community who served others as a health care professional for many years, died on August 11, 2019; and
WHEREAS, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, Mamie Goins relocated to the Richmond area, where she graduated from Armstrong High School; and
WHEREAS, Mamie Goins pursued a career as a nurse at what is now Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, as well as other health care organizations, and offered her leadership and expertise to several peer and professional associations; and
WHEREAS, guided by her servant's heart and abiding faith, Mamie Goins touched many lives through her grace and generosity; and
WHEREAS, Mamie Goins was baptized at New Bridge Baptist Church, where her grandfather was a minister, and later joined Fifth Street Baptist Church; she shared her joyful spirit with her daughter's church in the Swansboro area; and
WHEREAS, Mamie Goins was devoted to her family and relished every opportunity to care for them and impart her lifetime of wisdom to her children and grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mamie Goins will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Raleigh; her children, Mechelle and Raleigh, Jr., and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Mamie Littleton Goins, who made many contributions to the Richmond community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Mamie Littleton Goins as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
