WHEREAS, Alexandria Kinsley Colby Horn of Roanoke County is an outstanding state swimming champion with exemplary performances in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly for three consecutive years; and WHEREAS, at the 2010 - 2011 Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group A/AA Swimming Championships, Alexandria "Ali" Horn, who then was a senior at Cave Spring High School, won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 3.44 seconds, and the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.45 seconds; and WHEREAS, in recent years Ali Horn has captured individual state titles in freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events, and held 31 team records as a member of the Virginia Gators Swim Team; she also holds Timesland records in the individual medley and butterfly; and WHEREAS, Ali Horn was a member of the 2010 - 2011 Cave Spring girls' swim team when it nabbed the 200 freestyle relay title at the VHSL state meet, the first time the team had done so in four years, marking a fitting tribute to Ali Horn in her senior year; and WHEREAS, Ali Horn is a National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) High School All-American and also is the 2009, 2010, and 2011 Timesland swimmer of the year; and WHEREAS, Ali Horn participated in the 2009 World Championships Trials in Indianapolis, and in 2010 was ranked fifth in the State of Virginia; and WHEREAS, Ali Horn, a star swimmer while a student at Cave Spring High School and a member of the National Beta Club, is a freshman member of the swim team at Duke University; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Alexandria Kinsley Colby Horn on her swimming championships and stellar accomplishments over the years in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly competitions; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Alexandria Kinsley Colby Horn as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations for her outstanding aquatic talent and hard work. |
