Commending Thomas G. Shepperd.

WHEREAS, Thomas G. Shepperd, a longtime member of the York County Board of Supervisors, has served the residents of York County with dedication and distinction for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, over the course of his career in public office, Thomas “Tom” Shepperd has represented the residents of District 5 and served terms as chair of the York County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure on the York County Board of Supervisors, Tom Shepperd worked closely with local businesses, tourism and historical organizations, the county's significant population of active-duty military service members, and other stakeholders to maintain York County's unique and vibrant character; and

WHEREAS, for nearly two decades, Tom Shepperd has represented York County on the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance to preserve and grow the role of military service members and federal workers in the local economy; and

WHEREAS, Tom Shepperd has long specialized in transportation policy, serving as the York County representative on the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization and a commissioner on the Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission; and

WHEREAS, Tom Shepperd has also supported responsible development in the region as a commissioner on the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission and a member of the board of directors of the Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions; and

WHEREAS, Tom Shepperd has served the residents of York County with the utmost dedication, integrity, and distinction, working diligently to preserve, protect, and improve the county for future generations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Thomas G. Shepperd for his 25 years of service to the residents of York County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Thomas G. Shepperd as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his personal and professional achievements.
