Celebrating the life of Mary Ann Sobieralski.

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Sobieralski, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and cherished member of the Yorktown community, died on October 20, 2024; and
WHEREAS, born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Mary Ann Sobieralski attended Saint Bernard School and Saint Francis Academy in Pittsburgh in her youth; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Sobieralski was an avid sports fan who earned a feature in an issue of Sports Illustrated for a Pittsburgh Pirates fan club she started in grade school and who also cheered on the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins all of her life; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Sobieralski took great pride in her Irish heritage and never missed a chance to celebrate St. Patrick's Day; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Sobieralski delighted friends and family with her sense of humor and extensive knowledge of old movies and big band music; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Sobieralski enjoyed dancing, celebrating birthdays, playing the piano, and gathering for a game of cards with her 500 Club, but above all else she treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, guided throughout her life by her faith, Mary Ann Sobieralski enjoyed worship and fellowship with her rosary group and the friends that prayed with her; and
WHEREAS, preceded in death by her son, Michael, Mary Ann Sobieralski will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her children, Kitty, Linda, Colleen, and Karen, and their families and by numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Mary Ann Sobieralski, whose kindness and generosity brightened countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Mary Ann Sobieralski as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
