Celebrating the life of Diana Lee Creasey.

WHEREAS, Diana Lee Creasey, a highly admired member of the community in Goochland County who made numerous contributions to the advancement of emergency medicine and public safety in the region, died on January 19, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Diana Creasey grew up in Colchester, Illinois, and was skilled in music, sports, and academics in her youth; she played piano, taught accordion lessons, was a member of the drum majorettes, and was a standout athlete on her school basketball team; and
WHEREAS, after high school graduation, Diana Creasey worked at Western Illinois University in Macomb, then relocated to the Commonwealth and settled in Goochland County to raise her family; and
WHEREAS, Diana Creasey found her calling when she became a registered nurse and began working at various hospitals and doctor's offices in the Richmond area; during that time, she also continued her education by earning a bachelor's degree and completing post-graduate work at Liberty University; and
WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to the community, Diana Creasey joined the Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services in 1982 and quickly became a shock-trauma technician and one of the first advanced life support providers in the region; and
WHEREAS, Diana Creasey played a crucial role in leadership and training for the department and mentored hundreds of emergency medical professionals over the years, even recruiting members of her own family; and
WHEREAS, Diana Creasey subsequently transferred to Goochland Courthouse Volunteer Fire Rescue Company Five, where she organized training and continuing education in emergency medicine and served as rescue training officer; she also served on the interview panel for new applicants up to the time of her passing; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her work in emergency medicine, Diana Creasey obtained a private investigator license and once worked as an airport security guard; and
WHEREAS, Diana Creasey was an avid world traveler with a boundless sense of adventure; she visited Israel, Egypt, England, Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Romania, Ukraine, and Russia over the course of her life; and
WHEREAS, Diana Creasey enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Salem Baptist Church, where she offered her leadership and insights to the Sunday school, Bible study, and vacation Bible school programs; she was an active volunteer for several other ministries and played piano for the Praise Singers group; and
WHEREAS, Diana Creasey was affectionately known as “Mama Creasey,” and her home was always open to her children's friends, church members, fellow public safety officers, or anyone in need of her kindness, wisdom, and grace; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by her husband Ned, Diana Creasey will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Teresa, Shawn, Scott, Tonia, and Steven, and their families, and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Diana Lee Creasey, a devoted nurse and public safety officer who touched countless lives in Goochland County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Diana Lee Creasey as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
