Celebrating the life of Sterling Compton Broyles II.

WHEREAS, Sterling Compton Broyles II, a retired educator who mentored and inspired countless young people in Roanoke, died on March 21, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Sterling Broyles worked for Roanoke City Public Schools for 35 years, most notably as a teacher at Monterey Elementary School, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. B”; and
WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement, Sterling Broyles continued to serve local students and their families as a volunteer; and
WHEREAS, Sterling Broyles was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Sterling Compton Broyles II; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Sterling Compton Broyles II as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
