Commending the Ridgeway Ruritan Club.

WHEREAS, the Ridgeway Ruritan Club, a local chapter of Ruritan National, Inc., dedicated to bettering the Ridgeway community and surrounding areas through fellowship, goodwill, and service, celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2025; and
WHEREAS, on July 18, 1950, the Ridgeway Ruritan Club was chartered by the board of directors of Ruritan National, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the Ridgeway Ruritan Club has supported area youth over the years through various initiatives, including education scholarships and donations for school activities, such as band and after-prom events, and by serving as a charter organization for a local Boy Scout troop; and
WHEREAS, the Ridgeway Ruritan Club has played a part in fighting hunger and promoting public health and wellness in Henry County by supporting Hunters for the Hungry and the Community Storehouse food program; and
WHEREAS, the Ridgeway Ruritan Club funds its charitable efforts in the community through donations and other fundraising activities, which are staffed entirely by volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Ridgeway Ruritan Club has contributed to various philanthropic efforts over the years, including financially supporting the community's volunteer fire department and donating to initiatives and organizations such as disaster relief, Christmas Cheer, a local pregnancy center, and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, and
WHEREAS, the Ridgeway Ruritan Club has provided its building as a local gathering place, hosting events ranging from parties to memorials, facilitating community meetings with local officials and businesses, and serving as a venue for members of the public to socialize; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Ridgeway Ruritan Club are the result of the unwavering commitment of the organization's volunteer members, who have helped to make Ridgeway a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the Ridgeway Ruritan Club hereby be commended for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Ridgeway Ruritan Club as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to the Ridgeway community, Henry County, and the Commonwealth.
