HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 8
Commending the Hidden Valley High School boys' 200-yard medley relay swim team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 13, 2012
Agreed to by the Senate, January 19, 2012

WHEREAS, the 2010 - 2011 Hidden Valley High School boys' 200-yard medley relay swim team from Roanoke won the state title for that event at the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group A/AA Swimming Championships; and

WHEREAS, the foursome gained its first-place honors with a winning time of 1 minute and 36.94 seconds at the meet in Christiansburg; and

WHEREAS, this team of champions boasts an extremely talented lineup consisting of Dylan Otruba, Alex Vance, Mark Adams, and Lucas Otruba, each of whom has been named to an All Timesland team; and

WHEREAS, the boys' swim team was named District Champions for 2010 - 2011, and also claimed the Region IV title for the second year in a row; and

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley team is ably coached by Sheri Vaughn, the 2009 - 2010 All Timesland Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the students devote countless hours to practice and attending meets over a period of many years; some athletes attend as many as 11 practices per week in order to maintain peak performance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the 2010 – 2011 Hidden Valley High School boys' 200-yard medley relay swim team on its victory at the Virginia High School League Group A/AA Swimming Championships; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Swim Coach Sheri Vaughn as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations on the boys' achievements in this competition and their dedication to the sport.
