HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 909
Commending Gretchen Blair Clark.

WHEREAS, on April 30, 2010, Gretchen Blair Clark received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from the Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and

WHEREAS, Gretchen Clark received the award at the 12th annual Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Achievement Awards and was inducted into the CEE Academy of Distinguished Alumni; and

WHEREAS, Gretchen Clark graduated from Virginia Tech in 1997 with degrees in civil engineering and biological systems engineering, and became a registered professional engineer in North Carolina and Virginia; and

WHEREAS, after working as an engineering supervisor for the city of Manhattan, Kansas, Gretchen Clark served as a project engineer for McKim & Creed in Chesapeake in 1998, and joined Dewberry as project manager and engineer in Danville in 1999; and

WHEREAS, in 2004 Gretchen Clark opened an independent engineering firm with a partner and is the current president of Reynolds-Clark Development, Inc., in Gretna; and

WHEREAS, Gretchen Clark volunteers with Revitalization for a Greater Gretna as board member, fundraising chair, and cochair of the 5K race; serves on the Board of Directors of the Danville-Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce; and is on the advisory committee of the Danville Regional Fund; and

WHEREAS, as an active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Gretchen Clark has volunteered and taught Sunday school; and

WHEREAS, along with her husband, Timothy, Gretchen Clark is determined to make the greater Danville area a wonderful home for her two children, Gordon and Suter; and

WHEREAS, Gretchen Clark embodies the level of commitment, community involvement, and professional aptitude that distinguishes her in her chosen profession; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Gretchen Blair Clark, recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from the Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Gretchen Blair Clark as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations on her many achievements and best wishes on her future endeavors.
