HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 116
Commending the Briar Woods High School cheerleading team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 5, 2016

WHEREAS, the Briar Woods High School cheerleading team of Ashburn claimed its fifth state title, winning the Virginia High School League Group 5A state competition cheer championship on November 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, in the state championship, an eight-team event held at the Siegel Center in Richmond, the Briar Woods High School Falcons scored 235.5 points, defeating the second-place Glen Allen High School Jaguars by 12.5 points; and

WHEREAS, earlier in the season, the Briar Woods Falcons also won the Loudoun County Public Schools Championship and the Conference 14 title; the team placed second in the Virginia High School League 5A North regional championship; and

WHEREAS, the state championship is the fifth overall for the Briar Woods Falcons; the team had previously won four consecutive state cheerleading titles from 2009 to 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Briar Woods Falcons' victory is a testament to the skill and determination of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the entire Briar Woods High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Briar Woods High School cheerleading team hereby be commended on winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 5A state competition cheer championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lucia Curry, head coach of the Briar Woods High School cheerleading team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievements.
