WHEREAS, Darryll Greg Dowell, Jr., an honorable veteran, former law-enforcement officer, and esteemed public servant, concluded his term on the Williamsburg–James City County School Board in 2023; and
WHEREAS, from 2002 to 2008, Greg Dowell served his country with honor and distinction as an armament systems specialist in the United States Air Force, overseeing the training and evaluation of fighter squadrons at Royal Air Force Lakenheath in England among other responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, following his military service, Greg Dowell served as the lead patrol investigator on domestic abuse and child neglect and abuse cases for the Nampa Police Department in Nampa, Idaho, until 2013, working tirelessly to promote the safety and security of the community; and
WHEREAS, Greg Dowell attended Liberty University, earning a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, social science, and aviation in 2016 and a master's degree in public policy and public administration the following year; and
WHEREAS, since 2018, Greg Dowell has served as the executive administrator of Smith Memorial Baptist Church in Williamsburg, effectively guiding the church's staff to ensure the church's well-being and longevity; and
WHEREAS, Greg Dowell was elected to serve as the Stonehouse District representative on the Williamsburg–James City County School Board in November 2019 and proudly and faithfully served the interests of his constituents for the past four years; and
WHEREAS, through his unwavering commitment to the success of the students, faculty, and families he served, Greg Dowell has helped to make Williamsburg and James City County wonderful places to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Darryll Greg Dowell, Jr., hereby be commended for his service on the occasion of his retirement from the Williamsburg–James City County School Board; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Darryll Greg Dowell, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to Williamsburg and James City County and best wishes in his future endeavors.
