WHEREAS, the Gainesville Middle School drama club earned a platinum rating at the Virginia Theatre Association's annual conference in Richmond in October 2023; and
WHEREAS, the Gainesville Middle School drama club won the event's top honor with its production of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" after competing against other schools from across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Fillmore and Sadie Lamb, both eighth-grade students with the Gainesville Middle School drama club, were named best actors at the conference; and
WHEREAS, the Gainesville Middle School drama club's cast for "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" included Ysabella Nicastro, Calvin Suglo, Rhea Sharma, Jayden Thompson, Koreena Dodson, Sadie Lamb, Sienna Shahateet, Ariana Gopman, Chloe Miller, Rachel Fillmore, Emily Rice, Lucy Anderson, Lili Fulda, Grace Lewis, Zoe Pham, Elizabeth Roberts, Nora El Sayed, and Stella Jones; and
WHEREAS, the Gainesville Middle School drama club has provided its students with an opportunity to explore different stories and perspectives, while fostering their abilities to be creative and collaborative, priming them for successful futures; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Gainesville Middle School drama club are the result of the hard work and determination of the student-actors, the leadership and guidance of their directors and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Gainesville Middle School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Gainesville Middle School drama club hereby be commended for its platinum rating at the 2023 Virginia Theatre Association conference; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jessica Rodriguez-Snellings, director of the Gainesville Middle School drama club, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the group's achievement.
