WHEREAS, for five decades, the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association has represented the factory-built housing industry and advocated for affordable housing options and opportunities for families in the Commonwealth; and WHEREAS, established in 1965 as the Virginia Trailer Association, the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association serves as a strong, effective voice for retailers, community owners, and manufacturers of mobile or factory-built homes; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association supported the creation of clear regulatory and statutory distinctions between manufactured and modular homes and legislation to allow manufactured homes on the same footing as modular and site-built homes in areas zoned for agriculture; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association helped prevent unlawful discrimination against factory-built housing and supported the provision of resources to validate the value of manufactured homes; and WHEREAS, providing further leadership in the field, the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association supported the establishment of the Virginia Manufactured Housing Board and worked to clarify the rights and responsibilities of local governments in enforcing state laws relating to factory-built houses; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association hereby be commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's support for the factory-built housing industry and contributions to the Commonwealth. |
