WHEREAS, Evelyn Miles, a beloved mother and grandmother and a vibrant member of the community of Virginia Beach, died on March 3, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn Miles was born in 1944 in the former Princess Anne County and devoted much of her life to caring for others; and
WHEREAS, for more than 40 years, Evelyn proudly served young people at Virginia Beach City Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn Miles helped keep students nourished and ready to focus on their studies as a cafeteria manager, preparing students' meals with the same love and care as those she made for her own family; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn Miles enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of New Saint John A.M.E. Church, where she was a member of the New Saint John Nurses Unit and the United Order of Tents; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn Miles will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Delceno, Thaddeus, and Monica, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Evelyn Miles, a highly admired member of her community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Evelyn Miles as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
