Commending JoAnn McCoy.

WHEREAS, JoAnn McCoy, an esteemed faith leader and pastor of Family Life Worship Center Church in Clifton, has greatly served the ecumenical community of Northern Virginia over many years; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn McCoy has provided her congregation at Family Life Worship Center with insightful spiritual guidance and abundant opportunities for worship, fellowship, and community outreach; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn McCoy holds a master of divinity degree from Richmond Virginia Seminary and is honing her abilities as a faith leader by pursuing a doctor of theology degree with a focus on biblical history from the United Theological Seminary; and

WHEREAS, beyond her pastoral duties, JoAnn McCoy has worked tirelessly for the benefit of others as a community activist advocating for criminal justice and prison reform, environmental causes, children and family services, and education; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn McCoy's triumph over triple-negative breast cancer has inspired her mission to improve people's access to autonomy within the health care system, empowering other women to utilize the resources available to them to identify, treat, and survive cancer; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn McCoy has collaborated with a number of local and state agencies over the years and played a vital role in Northern Virginia's response to the COVID-19 pandemic by personally cooking meals for more than 3,000 families in need; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn McCoy is an accomplished businesswoman in her roles as co-owner of Champion Services, Inc., a solid waste management and recycling company serving the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and as the managing director at Bion Consulting Group, LLC; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn McCoy's faith, leadership, and steadfast dedication to the well-being of others has been an inspiration to countless Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That JoAnn McCoy hereby be commended for her legacy of service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to JoAnn McCoy as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to the Commonwealth.
