WHEREAS, Gayle Thayer, a German language teacher at Liberty Middle School, was named the Fairfax County Public Schools Region 4 Outstanding Secondary School Teacher for 2023; and
WHEREAS, for over 30 years, Gayle Thayer has demonstrated a deep commitment to helping students recognize and celebrate their growth in language learning and inspiring them to fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams; and
WHEREAS, Gayle Thayer is integral to helping Liberty Middle School fulfill its vision of empowering students and igniting their passion for learning; and
WHEREAS, Gayle Thayer's rigorous yet supportive approach consistently helps students build the confidence they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom; and
WHEREAS, Gayle Thayer facilitates and guides her students' development through engaging teaching methods, including by incorporating "Portrait of a Graduate" skills into her lessons and helping them understand how to apply their learning beyond the classroom; and
WHEREAS, through her passion for teaching, high expectations for her students, and creativity, Gayle Thayer creates a nurturing learning environment where all students feel welcomed; and
WHEREAS, Gayle Thayer has cultivated meaningful relationships with her students and stays in touch with many of her former students after they have graduated from Liberty Middle School; and
WHEREAS, Thayer Gayle has embodied the highest ideals of the education profession through her unwavering commitment to her students and fellow faculty members; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Gayle Thayer hereby be commended for being named the 2023 Fairfax County Public Schools Region 4 Outstanding Secondary School Teacher; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Gayle Thayer as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for her contributions to the Commonwealth.
