Commending the Princess Anne High School girls' basketball team.

WHEREAS, the Princess Anne High School girls' basketball team of Virginia Beach won the Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship at Virginia Commonwealth University's Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond on March 9, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Princess Anne High School Cavaliers defeated the James River High School Rapids of Midlothian by a score of 80–70 to bring home the program's 14th state championship title and its 10th title in 11 years; and
WHEREAS, the Princess Anne Cavaliers went into halftime with the score tied 38–38 and saw their lead dwindle to 63–62 in the third quarter, but the team persevered and held on for the win; and
WHEREAS, the Princess Anne Cavaliers put forth a total team effort to secure the victory, led by impressive shooting from freshman Micah Ojo, who had 31 points; and
WHEREAS, the Princess Anne Cavaliers concluded their dominant season with an extraordinary 25–2 record and were undefeated in regional play; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Princess Anne Cavaliers are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Princess Anne High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Princess Anne High School girls' basketball team hereby be commended for winning the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Darnell Dozier, head coach of the Princess Anne High School girls' basketball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for their success.
