Commending 3North.

WHEREAS, 3North, an award-winning design firm based in Richmond that has been behind the transformation of many historically and culturally significant buildings and sites throughout the Commonwealth, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024; and
WHEREAS, 3North was established in 1999 by founder and managing principal John Adam Hugo, III, drawing its name from the address of its first office, 3 North Lombardy Street in Richmond; and
WHEREAS, 3North's diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, cultural, and educational buildings and sites includes several famous hotels and resorts in Virginia and North Carolina, marquee homes and major tourist destinations in the Greater Richmond area, a number of cutting-edge educational facilities throughout the Commonwealth, and projects in locations as far away as Nova Scotia, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom; and
WHEREAS, with a 37-member team of architects, landscape architects, interior designers, and graphic designers, 3North employs a holistic and multidisciplinary charrette process it refers to as Intangible Qualities in order to develop customized and site-specific solutions for its clients' complex and unique challenges; and
WHEREAS, 3North's nimble and all-encompassing aesthetic philosophy has enabled the firm to achieve renown in the areas of both historical restoration and contemporary urban design and to become a leader of its industry; and
WHEREAS, 3North's projects have been featured in publications such as Travel + Leisure, The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Condé Nast Traveler, and Virginia Living, and the firm has been the recipient of a plethora of awards in honor of its achievements in the areas of design, environmental sustainability, and historic preservation; and
WHEREAS, in 2019, 3North was presented the Fitz-Gibbon Architecture Firm Award by the Virginia chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the chapter's highest honor, which recognizes a firm with longstanding community service and a track record of distinguished architecture; and
WHEREAS, guided by the core belief that great design has the power to transform lives, 3North has made a lasting and meaningful impact on the Commonwealth that will continue to inspire Virginians for generations to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That 3North and its architects and designers hereby be commended on the occasion of the firm's 25th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to John Adam Hugo, III, founder and managing principal of 3North, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the firm's accomplishments and best wishes for its continued success.
