Celebrating the life of Henry Martin Walters.

WHEREAS, Henry Martin Walters, a patriotic veteran and respected member of his community in Richmond, died on November 27, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Henry Walters grew up in South Hill and attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools; after high school graduation, he joined the United States Army and served the nation during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Henry Walters continued to support his fellow veterans throughout his life and was a dedicated member of the Military Retirees Club in Richmond; he was often identifiable by his collection of hats proudly proclaiming his military service; and

WHEREAS, over the course of his professional career, Henry Walters worked at Phillip Morris, Inc., and the former Continental Cablevision, but he was most passionate about spending time on the open road driving 18-wheeler trucks and buses for Greyhound and Groome Transportation; and

WHEREAS, Henry Walters enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where he was active in the men's ministry and other organizations; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his loving wife, Alice, Henry Walters will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter, Valerie Walters; his son, Derrick Walters; his stepdaughter, Valerie Melvin; his children's families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Henry Martin Walters, a highly admired member of the Richmond community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Henry Martin Walters as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
