WHEREAS, Andrew Bango, a physical education teacher at Arcola Elementary School, was selected as a Loudoun County Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Bango grew up in Loudoun County and returned to the area to work as a coach and educator after graduating from Campbell University; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Bango previously coached wrestling at Tuscarora High School for 10 years, leading the team to a state championship victory, and joined the faculty of Arcola Elementary School in 2011; and
WHEREAS, as a physical education teacher at Arcola Elementary School, Andrew Bango has nurtured positive mindsets in his students, ensuring that they have the support and self-confidence they need to learn and grow as individuals; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Bango was one of 58 teachers nominated for the prestigious Teacher of the Year Award, which recognizes outstanding educators who have cultivated strong relationships with students and their families, demonstrated active leadership, and upheld the highest standards of academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Bango received the Teacher of the Year Award at the Loudoun County School Board meeting on April 23, 2024, and was subsequently honored at the Outstanding Educators Banquet hosted by the Loudoun Education Foundation; and
WHEREAS, in addition, Andrew Bango was also selected as the Loudoun County Public Schools nominee for the 2024 Washington Post Teacher of the Year Award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Andrew Bango hereby be commended on his selection as a Teacher of the Year for Loudoun County Public Schools in 2024; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Andrew Bango as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievements in service to young people in Loudoun County.
