WHEREAS, Arletha Quash Rucker has greatly served the Caroline County community in her capacity as an educator, church leader, and activist; and
WHEREAS, born in 1933, Arletha Quash Rucker graduated from Virginia Union University before teaching high school social studies in Caroline County for more than 30 years, making a lasting and indelible impact on countless students and families; and
WHEREAS, a lifetime member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dawn, Arletha Quash Rucker has faithfully served as church clerk, editor of the church newspaper, and founder of the church's Little Light Society Ministry; and
WHEREAS, Arletha Quash Rucker has given generously of her time through her involvement with her local branch of the NAACP and her active role in restoring a historic cemetery in Dawn; and
WHEREAS, Arletha Quash Rucker's efforts to better her community over the years have helped to make Caroline County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Arletha Quash Rucker, a cherished member of the Caroline County community, hereby be commended for her dedication and legacy of service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Arletha Quash Rucker as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Caroline County and the Commonwealth.
