Celebrating the life of Donald R. Craig.

WHEREAS, Donald R. Craig, a beloved husband and father, dedicated social activist, and revered member of the Orange County and Northern Virginia communities, died on April 20, 2024; and

WHEREAS, before moving to Northern Virginia in 2017, Donald Craig was active with a number of organizations in the Orange County area, serving as president of the Parent Teacher Association at his daughters' schools from elementary through high school, as well as with the Orange County branch of the NAACP and the Democratic Party of Orange County; and

WHEREAS, Donald Craig was a devoted member of the Springfield District Democratic Committee (SDDC), working tirelessly as a founding member of the organization's Postcards & Politics group, with whom he wrote thousands of postcards in support of various candidates; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his unwavering commitment and service, Donald Craig was previously named the SDDC Member of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Donald Craig worked with both the Fairfax County Democratic Committee and the League of Women Voters to assist voter registration efforts in his community, encouraging many to embrace their civic responsibility; and

WHEREAS, Donald Craig gave generously of his time to advance a number of causes that were near and dear to his heart through his involvement with various organizations, including the Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions, the Fairfax County Communities of Trust Committee, the Poor People's Campaign, and the NAACP, as well as initiatives such as a youth mentoring program in Springfield and local food drives; and

WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Donald Craig enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, Donald Craig will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife, Tanya; his daughters, Tiffany and Kisha, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Donald R. Craig, a treasured member of the Orange County and Northern Virginia communities whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Donald R. Craig as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
