Celebrating the life of William Betts Wiltshire.

WHEREAS, William Betts Wiltshire, an accomplished insurance executive, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and cherished member of the Richmond community, died on May 19, 2024; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Collegiate School in Richmond in 1967, William "Buck" Wiltshire earned a degree from Hampden-Sydney College in 1971, where he was a member of the tennis team and co-captain of the 1971 squad that reached the finals of the Mason–Dixon Conference championship; and

WHEREAS, Buck Wiltshire embarked upon his professional career with the Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company in Richmond, rising to the position of vice president over his 25 years with the organization; and

WHEREAS, following his retirement from the Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, Buck Wiltshire gave generously of his time as a volunteer with his local chapter of Habitat for Humanity; and

WHEREAS, Buck Wiltshire cultivated his interest in woodworking over the years by building innumerable pieces of furniture for his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, among his many interests and pastimes, Buck Wiltshire found his greatest joy in being with his family, and he was valued by all who knew him as a trusted and loyal friend; and

WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Buck Wiltshire enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Second Baptist Church in Richmond, with which he pursued various meaningful outreach initiatives and service projects; and

WHEREAS, Buck Wiltshire will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife, Louise; his children, William, Jr., and Mary, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of William Betts Wiltshire, a treasured member of the Richmond community whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of William Betts Wiltshire as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
