HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 762
Commending the Bruton High School boys' tennis team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 28, 2024

 

WHEREAS, the Bruton High School boys' tennis team of York County won the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship on June 6, 2024, at Liberty University in Lynchburg; and

WHEREAS, the Bruton High School Panthers defeated the Radford High School Bobcats by a score of 5–2 to bring home the first state championship title in program history; and

WHEREAS, in the team championship final, the Bruton Panthers saw exceptional play from Christoph Schweitzer, Max de Winter, Talien Barnes, and Nick Felsman, who all won their singles matches; and

WHEREAS, the Bruton Panthers sealed victory with a doubles win from Christoph Schweitzer and Max de Winter, who also claimed the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 2 boys' doubles championship; and

WHEREAS, the Bruton Panthers' victory was a redemptive finish for a program that had been the runner-up in the state team finals the past two seasons; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Bruton Panthers is the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Bruton High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Bruton High School boys' tennis team hereby be commended for winning the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Bruton High School boys' tennis team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement.
