Commending Specially Adapted Resource Centers.

WHEREAS, Specially Adapted Resource Centers, commonly known as SPARC, was founded in a Reston community center in 2006 to meet the community's need for resources for adults with severe disabilities; and

WHEREAS, SPARC has been a leading force in serving the unique needs of members of the community with severe and multiple disabilities who cannot work, have difficulty living in traditional environments, and require 24/7 care and support that is not available elsewhere; and

WHEREAS, SPARC offers the same supportive structure and continued education that its participants enjoyed in school and provides a variety of educational services in the form of leisure learning that allows participants to work on life skills while socializing with a community of peers; and

WHEREAS, SPARC's tireless efforts allow employees to return to the workforce knowing their loved one is getting the human interaction they require to feel more a part of life and of a community; and

WHEREAS, SPARC's commitment to providing essential day programs for adults with disabilities has expanded to six locations in Northern Virginia and has benefitted the community and society as a whole; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Specially Adapted Resource Centers hereby be commended on the occasion of its 18th anniversary for its outstanding service in promoting resources to residents with severe and multiple disabilities and their families; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Specially Adapted Resource Centers as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's significant contributions to the Northern Virginia community and best wishes for its continued success.
