Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 55.1-604.1 as follows:

§55.1-604.1. Deed of gift; recordation; requirements.

No clerk shall record a deed of gift conveying real estate unless such deed is accompanied by a certified copy of the existing deed showing the name of the current owner of the real estate subject to the deed of gift.
