Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-79.5:1 as follows:

§22.1-79.5:1. Policies regarding cell phones and other handheld communication devices.

Each school board may develop and implement a policy to prohibit the possession or use of cell phones and other handheld communication devices during regular school hours.
