Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. That the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services shall implement a voluntary mental health check-in option as part of the comprehensive crisis system established pursuant to § 37.2-311.1 and shall report by November 1, 2022, to the Governor and the Chairmen of the House Committees on Appropriations and Health, Welfare and Institutions and the Senate Committees on Education and Health and Finance and Appropriations regarding its progress in implementing such program.

[ 2. That the provisions of this act shall not become effective unless an appropriation effectuating the purposes of this act is included in a general appropriation act passed in 2022 by the General Assembly that becomes law. ]
