SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 149
Commending Daniel Certa.

WHEREAS, Daniel Certa of Chesapeake, one of nine Virginia athletes who competed at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, captured a silver medal in bowling doubles and a bronze medal in bowling singles at the international competition; and

WHEREAS, over 7,500 athletes traveled to the historic city of Athens, Greece, to participate in the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games held June 25–July 4, 2011; and

WHEREAS, a regular at AMF Chesapeake Lanes, Daniel Certa began bowling several years ago and developed a knack for knocking down the pins with his signature moves; and

WHEREAS, an accomplished bowler, Daniel Certa has won numerous medals over the years, including a gold at the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games held in Richmond in 2010; and

WHEREAS, when not bowling, Daniel Certa enjoys spending time on the dance floor, where he has developed a different set of moves—he won an award for the Best Michael Jackson Dance Moves at a local competition; and

WHEREAS, a hardworking young man, Daniel Certa competed against other bowlers from around the world to win a silver medal in bowling doubles and a bronze medal in bowling singles at the international competition; and

WHEREAS, a talented bowler and inspiring role model, Daniel Certa proudly represented Chesapeake, the Commonwealth, and the nation at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Daniel Certa on his outstanding Special Olympics bowling career and his exemplary performance in Athens, Greece, at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Daniel Certa as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation for his dedication to the Special Olympics, his fellow athletes, and the sport of bowling.
