WHEREAS, Lydia Marie Kiser, who worked to enhance the quality of life of all members of the community as a longtime employee of the Russell County Department of Social Services, died on November 4, 2015; and WHEREAS, a native of Russell County, Lydia Kiser was a graduate of Castlewood High School; and WHEREAS, Lydia Kiser dedicated her life to the service of others while working at the Russell County Department of Social Services for 37 years; and WHEREAS, beginning her career as a clerk, Lydia Kiser rose through the ranks to become a benefits program specialist and was recognized as one of the most knowledgeable social work professionals in the Commonwealth for her expertise on Title IV, Part E of the Social Security Act; and WHEREAS, Lydia Kiser was a talented artist and musician and an avid fan of the Duke University Blue Devils; she enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her three feline companions; and WHEREAS, Lydia Kiser will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her father, Charles; sisters, Toni and Missie; nieces, Ivy and Mary; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lydia Marie Kiser; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lydia Marie Kiser as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory. |
