WHEREAS, Julie Clemente, an accomplished developer and active and beloved member of the Fairfax County community, died on January 19, 2024; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from what is now Justice High School in Falls Church in 1981, Julie Clemente attended American University for a year before going into a career in sales with Cellular One; as a testament to her determination, she returned to American University years later and earned her degree in 2006; and
WHEREAS, in 2002, Julie Clemente married Dan Clemente, founder and chairman of Clemente Development Company (CDC), one of the Greater Washington, D.C., area's leading development firms, and devoted two decades to caring for and raising their two daughters; and
WHEREAS, Julie Clemente gave generously of her time in the interest of the Commonwealth through appointments to serve as a trustee for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation and as a commissioner of the Virginia Port Authority; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, Julie Clemente became president of CDC, spearheading innovative and transformative projects, including The View at Tysons, which is expected to be the tallest building in the region when completed; and
WHEREAS, Julie Clemente was co-chair of the Friends of Clemyjontri, an organization dedicated to supporting Clemyjontri Park in McLean, which features a specialized all-accessible playground and ample green spaces for the benefit of the community; and
WHEREAS, Julie Clemente received several honors and accolades over her life in recognition of her service, including being named Lady Fairfax by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Fairfax County's Volunteer of the Year in 2004 and receiving the Community Champion award from Volunteer Fairfax in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Julie Clemente will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her loving husband, Dan; her children, Natalie and Samantha; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Julie Clemente, a cherished member of the Fairfax County community whose kind and generous spirit brought joy and inspiration to everyone she knew; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Julie Clemente as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
