WHEREAS, Suzanne Curry McBride, a respected educator and wildlife conservationist and a beloved wife, mother, friend, and volunteer in Virginia Beach, died on December 31, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne McBride was a 1968 graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School in Henrico County and a graduate of Longwood University in Farmville; after earning her master's degree in early childhood education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, she taught kindergarten in Hampton Roads for 20 years, until her retirement in 1989; and
WHEREAS, in 1996, Suzanne McBride began working with Wildlife Response, Inc., caring for injured and orphaned animals throughout Hampton Roads as a wildlife rehabilitator for 22 years and rising to the positions of vice president and director of rehabilitative services; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne McBride was a nationally respected authority on river otters and beavers and provided consultations and lectures to wildlife centers and rehabilitators throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne McBride also shared her expertise with students, traveling to elementary schools to educate young people on native Virginia wildlife; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne McBride dedicated her life to the pursuit of education, care of wildlife, and the best interests of her community and her family; and
WHEREAS, Suzanne McBride brought joy to everyone she met, and she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 30 years, Pat; her daughter, Kristen; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Suzanne Curry McBride; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Suzanne Curry McBride as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
