SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 198
Commending the Smithfield Packers Youth Sports 12U girls' flag football team.
Agreed to by the Senate, January 16, 2025
WHEREAS, the Smithfield Packers Youth Sports 12U girls' flag football team won the I-64 Sports All-Girl Flag Football Circuit championship in 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Smithfield Packers defeated the Peninsula District Powerhouse by a score of 28–26 to secure the championship and finish its inaugural season undefeated; and
WHEREAS, with great poise and determination, the Smithfield Packers sealed the victory with a tough goal line stop, denying its opponent's two-point conversion attempt in the final moments of the match; and
WHEREAS, the Smithfield Packers' win was a total team effort, led by all-star defensive captain Liliana Bozora and offensive captain and quarterback Kylie Reynolds; and
WHEREAS, the Smithfield Packers' success is the result of the hard work and dedication of the young athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Smithfield community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Smithfield Packers Youth Sports 12U girls' flag football team hereby be commended for winning the 2024 I-64 Sports All-Girl Flag Football Circuit championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Becky Bridges, head coach of the Smithfield Packers Youth Sports 12U girls' flag football team, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's achievement.
