Commending Rashiem D. Franklin.

WHEREAS, Rashiem D. Franklin, a deputy with the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office, received a Top Cop award from the Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crime Line Board in November 2024 for his outstanding performance as a criminal investigator and service to the community; and

WHEREAS, Rashiem Franklin joined the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office in 2022 and served as a patrol deputy until he transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit in 2023; and

WHEREAS, since that time, Rashiem Franklin has secured at least 34 felony warrants, 15 misdemeanor warrants, and nine search warrants for cases related to unlawful possession of firearms, child abuse, narcotics violations, credit card fraud, larceny, abduction, and attempted murder; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his work as an investigator, Rashiem Franklin acts as a liaison to a U.S. Postal Service task force, and he serves his fellow law-enforcement officers as a member of the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office Peer Support team and Honor Guard, as well as an instructor at the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy; and

WHEREAS, Rashiem Franklin has also inspired local youths as a volunteer with Isle of Wight County Schools, attending school events, providing guidance to students and staff members, and offering direct mentorship to male high school students; and

WHEREAS, Rashiem Franklin has served the Isle of Wight County community with the utmost dedication, integrity, and professionalism; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Rashiem D. Franklin, an exemplary member of the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office, hereby be commended on winning a Top Cop award in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Rashiem D. Franklin as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his outstanding achievements in service to the residents of Isle of Wight County.
